The following pictures show the buckles used with leather belts in both Korea and Japan from 2nd century till 5th century. They were brought to Japan by Korean people in 3rd century. These buckles were excavated from the ancient remains of housing located at Asakawa, Nagano-city in 2001 for the first time in Japan, which illustrates that Korea and Japan already had the very close connections in such ancient times. The same one, now exhibited in Cheongju National Museum, was found in Cheongju City, South Korea. This type of horse-shaped buckles have never been excavated in other old tombs in South Korea.
